It is with much sadness that the family announces the sudden but peaceful passing of our brother, John Henry Shopka, in Winnipeg on Friday, January 9, 2026 at the age of 78.
John was predeceased by his parents, Michael (Kayo) and Anne Shopka; and his sister-in-law, Heather Shopka. Left to mourn his passing are his siblings, Michael, Brian (Linda), Barry (Lynda), Linda (Barry); niece Michelle (Rendy); nephews, Bryan and Justin; as well as great-nieces and nephews, Breanna, Colt, Bailee, Chloe, and Jamie.
In accordance with John’s wishes, there will be no funeral.
Our family would like to send our deepest gratitude to the staff at Oakview Extendicare for their care and compassion throughout the years and also to the friends John made there.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Epilepsy and Seizure Association of Manitoba or any Animal Rescue of your choice.
